1869 The first Wyoming Territorial Legislative Assembly created and defined  the boundaries of Uinta County on December 1, 1869. Merril (Merrill) near Fort Bridger was named the county seat. Uinta county was the fifth Wyoming county and the first to be created by the Wyoming Territorial Government. It was organized on April 7, 1870 with Evanston as its county seat.

This is one of the first maps on which Uinta County appears. It is the Wyoming Territory
portion of the Atlas of the United States. Nebraska, and the territories of Dakota,
 Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
