1893 The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad extension between Sheridan and Alger was opened on July 14, 1893. (History of Nebraska from the earliest explorations of the trans-Mississippi).

1909 During the summer of 1909, 4 women, Alice Ramsey and 3 friends, drove a Maxwell automobile from New York to San Francisco. They traveled across Wyoming during mid July.
