1863 On December 2, 1863, the Union Pacific Railroad Company broke ground on the Missouri River Bottoms in Omaha, but construction did not begin until July 10, 1865 due to problems with funding. Five years after ground breaking, in December 1868, the tracks would be completed across Wyoming.
1914 Traveling libraries were an important part of providing library services to Wyoming's rural communities in the early 1900s. Libraries in our counties organized traveling libraries as early as 1904. The University of Wyoming established a program in 1913 and developed a number of collections.
