1872 Almy Post Office was established in Uintah County, Wyoming Territory on April 5, 1872.

1888 Afton Post Office was established on April 5, 1888. According to local records, the community, located on Swift Creek, was named for the historical river of that name in Scotland.

1892 "On April 5, 1892, 52 armed men rode a private, secret train north from Cheyenne. Just outside Casper, Wyo., they switched to horseback and continued north toward Buffalo, Wyo., the Johnson County seat. Their mission was to shoot or hang 70 men named on a list carried by Frank Canton, one of the leaders of this invading force." Read more about the Johnson County War here.

1907 The Basin Republican of April 5, 1907 reported the Book Lovers' Club had opened its library to the public. It was located in the Big Horn County Bank Building and named the Big Horn County Library.
