1882 In 1882, General Philip H. Sheridan led an expedition through northwestern Wyoming to Yellowstone. On August 13, the party traveled through an unnamed pass. General Sheridan named it Lincoln Pass in honor of Secretary of War, Robert T. Lincoln. It was later renamed Sheridan Pass in honor of General Sheridan himself. Mount Sheridan was also named for him.
1908 William D. Menor received a land patent on a location near Moose, Wyoming. He operated a ferry that crossed the Snake River, Menors Ferry. Today, the area is a historic district within Grand Teton National Park.
