1871 A bill that provided for the establishment of Yellowstone National Park was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.
1889 On December 18, 1889, J . M. Carey introduced before the House of Representatives a bill, H. R. 982, to admit Wyoming into the Union, and an article about the new Newcastle Alert was published in Bill Barlow's Budget on December 18, 1889. In April 1890, the editor of the Alert retired and the paper was purchased by C.T. Martin, who changed the title to Weston County Democrat.
1891 Ten Sleep Post Office was established as Tensleep Post Office on December 18, 1891 in Big Horn County prior to the formation of Washakie County. Albert S. Austin was the first postmaster. In November, 1905, its name was changed to Ten Sleep.
1907 Torrington citizens take steps to have the town incorporated. This town received its name from Torrington, Connecticut; and Torrington, Connecticut, received its name from Torrington, England. William Curtis came from Torrington, Connecticut to Colorado, where he worked on the farm of John Coy. These two men traveled horseback down the Laramie River and the North Platte where they decided to homestead. This was in 1883 and they soon applied for a post office in the name of "Torrington" which was granted. Torrington Post Office was established in 1990. William Curtis was the first postmaster of Torrington Post Office which was established in 1889.
