1898 Alta Post Office was established on January 17, 1898 in Uinta County prior to the formation of Teton County.
1911 Downing Post Office was established on January 17, 1911 with Mary Downing as its postmaster.
1873 The Board of trustees of the Cheyenne Library Association was formally organized on January 17, 1873. The first book order was for 437 volumes at the cost of $817.50. The books and quarters of the Cheyenne Library Association were the nucleus of the Laramie County Library System which was established in 1886.
