1912 On January 20, 1912, a coal mine explosion occurred at Susie, Wyoming.

Historic newspaper article reading "Mine explosion: windy shot fired in No. 4 Mine of Kemmerer Coal Co. at Susie, causes explosion resulting in death of five men and injury to eighteen others. Accident occured at 4:10pm Saturday, and all bodies were taken out of mine before 9pm, practically no damage done to mine, government mine rescue car on the scene immediately, rescue parties organized under superindentent C.S.
