1893 The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad extension between Sheridan and Alger was opened on July 14, 1893.

1909 During the summer of 1909, four women--Alice Ramsey, her two sisters-in-law, and a friend--drove a Maxwell automobile from New York to San Francisco. They traveled across Wyoming during mid July. They arrived in Cheyenne on July 14, Laramie on July 16, Rawlins on July 18, and Opal on July 20.
