1853 Washington Territory was formed by the Act of March 2, 1853. Washington Territory, as formed, included the present Territories of Washington and Idaho, that part of the present Territory of Montana west of the Rocky Mountains, and that part of the present Territory of Wyoming west of the Rocky Mountains and north of the 42d parallel.

1861 Dakota Territory was established on March 2, 1861. Dakota Territory, as formed, included the present Territory of Dakota, that part of the present Territory of Montana east of the Rocky Mountains, and that part of the present Territory of Wyoming north of the 13d parallel and east of the Rocky Mountains.

2004 Wyoming named the Sacagawea Golden Coin its State Coin on March 2, 2004. Sacagawea Glacier and Ridge, and Mount Sacagawea in Fremont County are "so named for the Shoshone Indian woman whose resourcefulness and courage contributed greatly to the success of the Lewis and Clark Expedition" (Decisions, 1930).
