1891 Thayne Post Office was established on May 8, 1891 with Mrs. Laura Thayne as the first postmaster. Thayne was first known as Glencoe.

1914 The city of Lusk received an $11,000 Carnegie Library grant on May 8, 1914. The Niobrara County Library Carnegie Building was completed in 1919. The library was remodeled in the late 1990s.
