1873 The border and southwestern corner of Wyoming was surveyed and established on November 14, 1873. The surveyor was Alonzo V. Richards, who had been awarded the General Land Office contract to survey the southern and western borders of Wyoming Territory.

1897 "On November 14, 1897, an earthquake caused considerable damage to the Grand Central Hotel at Casper. A 2- to 4-inch crack extended from the third to the first story.
