1868 The Union Pacific Railroad Company's tracks and train reached Green River, Dakota Territory, on October 1, 1868.

1901 As a result of an election held on September 27, Cody became an incorporated town on October 1, 1901. 

1968 On October 1, 1968, Congress transferred Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area from the National Park Service to the U.S. Forest Service.
