1890 On October 11, 1890, the first Governor of the State of Wyoming, Francis E. Warren, took office. He went on to serve in the United States Senate. A number of places are named for him, most notably Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.
1917 Van Kleeck Post Office was established on October 11, 1917. Van Kleeck, which was located north of Torrington, was named for its first postmaster Edward Van Kleeck. A weekly column titled "Van Kleeck Items" appeared in the Goshen County Journal from 1918 to 1922.
