1812 On October 22, 1812 Robert Stuart and the Astorians crossed the Continental Divide several miles south of South Pass. They are credited with "discovering" the pass that would be used by travelers on the emigrant trails.
1868 Rawling's Spring Post Office was established in Laramie County prior to the formation of Carbon County. Its name was changed to Rawlins Post Office on May 4, 1876.
1890 Salt Wells Post Office in Sweetwater County was established.
