1812 On October 31, 1812 Robert Stuart passed through the "Grand Canyon of the Platte" which he named Fiery Narrows, because of the color of the rocks. The canyon became known as the Pathfinder Canyon, named for John Fremont, who also explored the region. It is now the location of the Pathfinder Reservoir.

1913 On October 31, 1913, the Lincoln Highway was dedicated.
