1859 On September 18, 1859, Albert Bierstadt returned to his home in New Bedford, Massachusetts, from the Rocky Mountain West. During the previous summer, he was part of a government survey expedition, headed by Frederick W. Lander, that reached the Wind River Range and other parts of what is now the state of Wyoming. During the expedition, he created stereographs and sketches. A famous painting that resulted from the expedition was Lander's Peak.

1913 Morris Ranch Post Office was established with Mary J. Morris as postmaster. The ranch was located near the Shoshone River.

1919 The Newcastle News-Journal published an informative advertisement about the new town of Osage.
